Breeding papaya for PRSV tolerance

Selection and sibmating of  intergeneric  progenies of papaya and evaluation of intergeneric progenies (F₆) for fruit characteristics and PRSV tolerance

• Seven intergeneric progenies from the cross C.papaya var.Arka Surya X V. cauliflora (R₅P_16, R₆P_16, R₇P_16, R₁₄P_7, R₁₇P₁₆, R₁₉P₁ and R₃₅P₁₀) tolerant to ‘PRSV’from a population of 1008 progenies were selected and sibmated. These progenies recorded a fruit weight in the range of 622-1024.8 g, TSS of 9.2 to 12.36^oB, cavity index of 3.83 to 20.5%.
