About the Organisation

The Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bangalore, established in 1967, is the largest institute in South East Asia engaged in research on all basic and applied aspects of horticulture.

The Institute has over 200 scientists across diverse disciplines, many trained abroad in advanced laboratories, supported by strong infrastructure and research facilities. It has substations at Chettalli (Kodagu), Hirehalli (Tumkur, Karnataka) and Bhubaneswar (Odisha).

IIHR houses ultra-modern facilities for basic research and has been declared as a Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology and Post Harvest Technology by ICAR. The Institute now extends its consultancy and services to institutions, industries and individuals to promote public-private partnerships.
