Dr. I S Yadav was born on 10 July 1939 in Delhi. A distinguished grape researcher and horticulturist, he led ICAR-IIHR through significant research advancements in fruit crop improvement during 1995–1999.

Research Contributions
Dr. Yadav made significant contributions to grape breeding and viticulture in India. His research encompassed collection and evaluation of exotic and wild grape germplasm, taxonomical studies of grape cultivars, influence of plant growth regulators on fruit quality, and improvement of peach, plum, and pear in temperate horticulture zones. He strengthened IIHR outreach and training programmes during his directorship.
