Central Horticultural Experiment Station organized Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 during 17th September to 2nd October

Central Horticultural Experiment Station, ICAR-IIHR Bhubaneswar organized Swachhata Hi Seva programme with the theme “Swachhotsav” emphasizing the celebration of cleanliness during September 17th to 2nd October 2025 with a message to adopt Swachhata in daily lives and join hands for a clean and beautiful nation. The programme began with a pledge of Swachhata Hi Seva by all staff members on 17th September. Tree planting under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was carried out in the campus and erection of selfie point near to the old training hall.

A drawing competition on Swachhatatheme was organized for school children on 19th September where students of Vivekananda Sikshya Kendra, Dumduma participated and successful students were awarded. Under the community participation campaign (Advocacy activities), the staff selected the village Somana, Khordha and with the help of village residents & volunteers made a cleanliness drive and awareness programme on personal hygiene, waste management on 20th September. The team CHES along with the village residents participated in a physical cleanup programme of the village temple followed by tree planting in the temple premises. Under the programme “Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs”-a key component of Swachhata Hi Seva, Safai Mitras of CHES, Bhubaneswar subjected to mandatory routine health check-up at health camp on 21st September. As a symbol of unity and collective responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and promoting hygiene, a Human Chain was formed by the staff of CHES, Bhubaneswar on 22nd September. Clean Green Utsav was carried out at surroundings of office and institutional buildings on 23rd September. The cleanliness programme was conducted at historical places of Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves of Bhubaneswar on 24th September by the CHES staff. The Safai Mitras were distributed with safety gears and other accessories for their daily used on 29th September by the office of CHES. A black spot was identified on 18th September and cleaning was undertaken on 1st October by the staff of CHES Bhubaneswar under “Transformation of Cleanliness Target Units”.

The valedictory programme was organized on 3rd October where two renowned social workers and Gandhian idealists were invited to speak about the Principles of Gandhi Ji on cleanliness and other aspects of Swachhata. Staff engaged with Safai works were awarded in the programme chaired by Head of the station. The Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign was successfully coordinated by the incharge of the programme, Mrs Annapuran Behera with able support from Sri Manoj Ku Pattanaik, Smt Suchitra Behera, Sri Gobind Naik and all the staff of the station under the guidance of the head of the station.
