ICAR-IIHR-Central Horticultural experiment station (CHES), Bhubaneswar Celebrates World Soil Day 2025 at Rajas Village
The ICAR-IIHR-Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), Bhubaneswar celebrated World Soil Day 2025 on 5th December 2025 at Rajas village in Balipatna, Khordha District, Odisha, in collaboration with Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) and the Chasabasa Farmer Producer Company (FPC). About 40 farmers and stakeholders participated in the programme. The celebration featured a Scientists–Farmers Interface Meeting on “Healthy Soil for Healthy Crops” along with series of lectures like ‘Significance of World Soil Day’ by by Dr. A. V. V. Koundinya (CHES, Bhubaneswar), ‘Efforts of CHES, Bhubaneswar on Sustainable Resource Management’ by Dr Shantanu Rakshit (CHES, Bhubaneswar) and ‘Measures to Enhance Soil and Environmental Health’ by Dr Satyapriya Singh (CHES, Bhubaneswar). During the programme, quality seeds of chili (Arka Gagan), tomato (Arka Rakshak), and marigold (Arka Abhi) were distributed, along with Soil Health Cards for participating farmers. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shantanu Rakshit, Dr. A. V. V. Koundinya, and Dr. Satyapriya Singh, Sri M. K. Pattanaik. The programme successfully created awareness on the importance of soil health and encouraged farmers to adopt sustainable horticultural practices. The event was attended by other dignitaries including Dr. B. Sudanand (DGM, PPL), Mrs. Sukanti Behera (KVK Khordha, ICAR-CIFA), Mr. Suryamani Mohapatra (MDO, PPL), Mr. Nilamadhab Nanda (Agri Consultant, PPL), Mrs. Bharatibala Nayak (MD, Chasabasa FPC), Mr. Pratap Chandra Nayak (Director, Chasabasa FPC), and Mr. Sukant Nayak (Director, Chasabasa FPC).
