Emasculation and immediate pollination in evening at full bud stage one day prior to anthesis resulted in highest percent fruitset (55%) and 100% recovery of hybrid seeds without any compromise in seed quality similar to conventional crossing.
Tomato Hybrid Arka Abhijit:
Retention of three flowers per truss is recommended while crossing for enhanced higher seed yield ( 10g /plant)and quality (compared to non-nipping of flowers( 63%).
A female to male flower ratio of 4:1 is a favourable for higher fruitset (60%) in semideterminate tomato. However, this could be extended to 5:1 ratio without affecting seed yield and 100 seed weight.
