Improvement of jamun and sapota for dwarf tree stature and higher productivity

Collection and evaluation of jamun and sapota germplasm and hybrids, mutants and OP seedling

• In sapota, 13 accessions were collected from Kovur, Tamil Nadu and Arabhavai, Karnataka. Two seedling selections viz., Seedling-7 produced maximum yield of 13.50 kg and the Seedling-63, selected for dwarf stature produced 5.04 kg (83 fruits).
• In Jamun, 26 accessions were collected from Nallamalai forests of Andhra Pradesh. Out of total 110 collections, 55 accessions were field planted.
