Interactive workshop on “Harmonising the plant protection recommendations in Horticultural crops for South India” on February 4-5, 2016 at IIHR, Bengaluru

As per the suggestion of the Deputy Director General (Hort. Sci.), ICAR, New Delhi, an interactive workshop on “Harmonising the plant protection recommendations in Horticultural crops for South India” is proposed to be conducted on February 4-5, 2016 at IIHR, Bengaluru. The objective is to take into account the plant protection recommendations of different State Agricultural Universities in South India and Research Institutes and streamline them to avoid ambiguities and contradictions, if any. The meeting would also deliberate upon residues. In the light of the strict label claim laws and the emerging non-conventional pesticides, it would be a very important meeting where researchers, extension personnel and industry are expected to contribute to the final recommendations. Crops intended to be covered are fruits, vegetables and ornamentals. The arena of pests includes insects, plant pathogens, nematodes, mites, snails and slugs, rodents, birds and vertebrates. The delegates are expected from SAUs, ICAR Institutes and Sate Departments.

The meeting is being jointly organised by the Divisions of Entomology and Nematology and Plant Pathology, IIHR and the Association for Advancement of Pest Management in Horticultural Ecosystems (AAPMHE), IIHR, Bengaluru.
