ITMU & CPC sponsored training program on ‘Pollen Cryopreservation in Solanaceous and Cucurbitaceous Vegetables’ at Division of Flower and Medicinal Crops from 23-27 th March September, 2021

The training on Pollen cryopservation was offered to an official Vijaya Mahantesha S.RManager-Pathologyfrom Seed Works International (P) Ltd., Bangalore. The training module started with the lecture by Dr. P.E. Rajasekharan, Principal Scientist, Division of Flower and Medicinal Crops , on the science of cryopreservation and pollen viability assessment techniques The practical sessions included pollen extraction, in vitro viability assessment, staining, pollen storage and in vivo fertility assessment of the crops viz., Tomato, , Chilli, Bottle gourd, Ridge gourd, Cucumber, Watermelon. The practical sessions were handled by Ms.Laskhmi Mastiholi. For viability assessment hanging drop method was followed in most of the crops t .

the valedictory function of the training programme was held on 27th March , 2021 in the Director’s chamber . The traineeVijaya Mahantesha S.R, Dr.P.E.Rajasekharan(training coordinator),DR.H.C.Prasanna(Nodal Officer ,ITMU and CPC and Dr.V.Sridhar (Co-Nodal Officer HRD)was present . The Director, ICAR-IIHR, Dr. M.R.Dinesh distributed certificate to participant for successfully completing the training.
