ICAR-IIHR Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervor
The ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, celebrated the 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025, at its campus with great enthusiasm and national pride.
The event began with a warm welcome extended to Dr. Tusar Kanti Behera, Director of ICAR-IIHR. He was escorted by the institute’s security team to the flag-hoisting ceremony. The national flag was unfurled with full honors, followed by a stirring rendition of the national anthem. The celebration featured a mass singing performance and an impressive march-past by school children, accompanied by the institute’s security personnel and a band.
During the event, staff members delivered speeches highlighting the significance of Independence Day—a day that not only commemorates India’s hard-fought freedom from colonial rule but also serves as a reminder of the responsibilities each citizen bears in safeguarding the nation’s core values of democracy, unity, and secularism. Speakers emphasized the need to reflect on the country’s progress and to reaffirm our collective commitment to building a strong, inclusive, and prosperous India.
In his address, Dr. Tusar Kanti Behera, Director of ICAR-IIHR, emphasized the importance of the Indian Constitution, describing it as the cornerstone of our democracy. He underscored that the Constitution ensures justice, equality, and fundamental rights for all citizens. While speaking passionately about the democratic foundations of the country, he encouraged everyone—especially the youth—to uphold the ideals of liberty, justice, and equality, and to actively contribute to nation-building.
The event was meticulously organized by Mr. T. Viswanathan, Senior Administrative Officer and Nodal Officer (Security), with dedicated support from the security team including Mr. S.M.A. Ahmed, Mr. N. Muniraju, Mr. Vinod H. J., and Mrs. Vimala.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. S.M.A. Ahmed, Assistant Administrative Officer and Member Secretary (Security), expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and supporters who contributed to the successful conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.
