IIHR Celebrated “Samvidhan Diwas” on 26/11/2025
ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru celebrated the Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) on November 26, 2025 at 10.45 am in G.S. Randhawa Auditorium to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1949. The event aimed to celebrate the values enshrined in the Constitution, such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, and to foster awareness among students and staff about its importance.
Activities
- A brief Note on Samvidhan:
On the event of ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ celebration welcome address and importance of the day was delivered by Dr. V. Sridhar, Principal Scientist and Nodal Officer - Celebration of Samvidhan Diwas. Mr. K Vikram, PG Student of Plant Physiology discipline, spoke about the history of the Constitution, the significance of fundamental duties, or the role of the Constitution in upholding democracy.
- Preamble Reading:
At 11 AM, the Preamble reading was done by Mr. Aman Shukla, Administrative Officer, and the audience followed him, which set the tone for the day's proceedings.
- Quiz competition on Samvidhan:
About 20 questions on Constitution were framed with multiple choice answers. It was ppt show among audience to raise the hand and answer. All the staff and students actively participated and own the spot prizes.
- Interactive Session:
A talk on importance of the Samvidhan Diwas, brief history on how constitution was brought out for the nation and various committees involved in bringing out the constitution, citizens rights and duties according to the constitution, importance of constitution for India etc. was delivered by Dr. V. Sridhar.
Presentation was focused on the enduring relevance of the Constitution in India's journey as a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic and republic country.
- Oath Taking: All participants, including faculty and students, took a pledge to uphold the principles of the Constitution and the laws of the land.
- Presidential remark:
A presidential remark was given by Dr. Prakash Patil, Director I/c. highlighting efforts of staff and to create awareness about the constitution, fundamental rights and prime duties of the citizens among the staff and students of the Institution.
- Conclusion:
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by comperer of the programme, Dr. S. Onkara Naik, Technical Officer, Division of Crop Protection expressing gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers. A symbolic end was marked by the singing of the National Anthem. Refreshments were provided to the attendees.
- Impact :
The celebration was a resounding success, successfully reminding everyone of the Constitution's pivotal role in shaping India and reinforcing a sense of national pride and responsibility among the attendees.
