Kisan Gosthi and Live Broadcast of Launching of PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana and Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission Held at ICAR-IIHR, CHES, Bhubaneswar
A live broadcast programme was organized on 11th October 2025 at the ICAR-IIHR, Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), Bhubaneswar, to witness the launch of major initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Yojana (PMDDKY) and the Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. During the programme, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for over 1,100 projects worth more than ₹42,000 crore, covering the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Food Processing sectors.
The farmers also witnessed the addresses by Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying; Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development; and the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving self-reliance in agriculture, promoting innovation, and empowering farmers across the nation.
Around 50 participants from Khurda and Puri districts of Odisha participated in the programme. Following the live broadcast, participants attended Kisan Gosthis and visited the farm and nursery facilities of CHES, Bhubaneswar, where they were exposed to various modern horticultural practices and technologies. The interactions provided an opportunity for farmers to gain insights into advanced cultivation methods and government schemes that directly benefit their livelihoods.
As part of the day’s proceedings, a series of technical lectures was delivered by the scientists of CHES, Bhubaneswar on important topics such as Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), Recent GST rate revision and its benefits for farmers, National Mission on Natural Farming, and Improved Varieties and Technologies developed by ICAR-IIHR. These sessions enhanced the farmers’ understanding of government initiatives, natural farming practices, and the latest innovations in horticultural research.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Gobinda Chandra Acharya, Dr. Shantanu Rakshit, Mr. Manoj Kumar Pattnaik, Sri A Das and Mr. Bishnu Charan Patra, and assisted by Mr. A. Anil Kumar. The event concluded with an interactive session in which farmers shared their experiences and expressed gratitude to ICAR-IIHR and CHES, Bhubaneswar, for organizing such an informative and impactful programme aimed at strengthening the agricultural community in Odisha.
