The Mushroom Laboratory celebrated National Mushroom Day on 23rd December 2025 at ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru. The event was organized with the participation of 25 persons with physical disabilities, with the aim of promoting inclusive entrepreneurship. Mushrooms are well known for their rich protein content, vitamin D, immunomodulatory, and antiviral properties. Therefore, the program emphasized creating awareness about the nutritional and health benefits of mushrooms among men and women, who play a vital role as caretakers of family health and children. A comprehensive training program on mushroom cultivation, spawn production, and value addition was conducted, providing hands-on exposure to scientific cultivation practices, spawn preparation, and value-added mushroom products. The initiative aimed to strengthen technical skills, generate livelihood opportunities, and foster self-reliance through sustainable mushroom-based enterprises. Ready to fruit (RTF) bags were distributed to the women to harvest mushrooms at home.
