The sports contingent of ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, comprising twenty men and four women participants, took part in the ICAR–Interzonal Sports Tournament held at ICAR–Indian Sugarcane Research Institute (ISRI), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, from 4^th to 7^th November, 2025.

The contingent participated in both individual and team events and delivered an outstanding overall performance during the tournament.

In the women’s individual events:

• Smt. Venkatalakshmamma won Gold Medals in Discus Throw and Badminton Doubles.
• Dr. G. R. Smitha secured Gold Medal in Badminton Doubles and Silver Medal in Badminton Singles.

In the women’s team events:

• The Women’s 4 × 100 m Relay Team, comprising Ms. Meenakshi, Dr. G. R. Smitha, Smt. Venkatalakshmamma, and Mrs. Lakshmi Devi, bagged the Gold Medal.

In the men’s individual events:

• Mr. Anurag Kumar won the Gold Medal in High Jump.

The ICAR–IIHR men’s teams also showcased commendable performances in Kabaddi, Basketball, and Cycling, while the women’s teams performed well in Table Tennis (Singles and Doubles), though they narrowly missed podium finishes.

Overall, the ICAR–IIHR contingent secured 28 points in the tournament, reflecting a strong and competitive performance across multiple disciplines.
