The Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), Bhubaneswar organized a 2-day hands-on training-cum-exposure programme on grafting techniques in collaboration with APICOL, Govt. of Odisha from 21-22 November 2025 with an objective to impart technical knowledge and skill to the trainees and make them capable to produce quality planting materials through vegetative propagation. Thirty agri-entrepreneurs from five districts of Odisha viz., Kandhamal, Bargarh, Mayurbhanj, Anugul and Kalahandi attended the program. The programme was organized under the AEPS-OIIPCRA (Agriculture Entrepreneurship promotion) Scheme implemented by Agricultural Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (APICOL). The inaugural session was chaired by Mr. Shubhranshu Mishra, IAS, MD, APICOL and Dr. G.C. Acharya, Head, CHES, Bhubaneswar. In this session Mr. Mishra, MD, APICOL motivated the farmers to uptake the spirit of learning and highlighted the strong bond between CHES and APICOL in all such needful training programmes. He urged the farmers for successful entrepreneurship development through nursery establishment. Dr. G.C. Acharya, Head, CHES, Bhubaneswar emphasized the farmers about need of grafting and elaborated various principles and techniques of grafting. During this 2-day training programme, various aspects like grafting/layering in fruit crops and vegetables, polyhouse operations, graft incompatibility and necessary plant protection measures for nursery care etc. A feedback session was also organized to understand the impact of training. The training programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Deepa Samant, Senior Scientist and Dr. Tanushree Sahoo, Scientist. At the end of training programme, the farmers expressed their satisfaction over learning and look forward to attend more such impactful training sessions.
