Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 – Inaugural Programme at ICAR–IIHR

The ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, inaugurated the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 on 27th October 2025 with great enthusiasm and participation. The theme for this year’s observance is “Vigilance : Our Shared Responsibility”, emphasizing integrity, transparency, and accountability in all spheres of work.

The programme commenced with the ICAR song and IIHR jingle, followed by the Integrity Pledge administered by Dr. A. Nagaraja, Principal Scientist and Vigilance Officer, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to ethical practices, transparency, accountability and fairness.

Shri Aman Shukla, Administrative Officer, introduced the week-long programmes and activities to be organized as part of the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, highlighting the importance of vigilance in everyday work culture.
Dr. A. Nagaraja then welcomed and introduced the Chief Guest, Shri D. P. Nagendra Kumar, IRS (Retd.), former Member, GST, CBIC, and the Guest of Honour, Dr. Ezhilmathi K, IRS, Commissioner, GST Appeals, Bengaluru.
The Director, Dr. Tusar Kanti Behera, felicitated the Chief Guest as a token of respect and appreciation.
In her address, Dr. Ezhilmathi K spoke about the importance of personal integrity and moral courage in public service. She also shared her experiences with afforestation initiatives, highlighting how such efforts not only help the environment but also create long-term benefits for society.

The Chief Guest, Shri D. P. Nagendra Kumar, delivered an insightful talk on “Role of Preventive Vigilance – Leveraging Technology.” He explained how technology plays a vital role in the growth of the nation, and how it helps bring transparency and accountability in governance. He also explained how using digital tools and data can reduce corruption and make work more efficient.

Dr. T. K. Behera, Director, ICAR–IIHR, said that good leadership comes from being alert, honest, and responsible. He reminded everyone that vigilance and integrity are key to building a transparent and trustworthy organization.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Shri Sachin Agnihotri, Chief Administrative Officer (SG), expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, staff, participants and committee members for their active involvement.The event concluded with the National Anthem.
