ICAR-IIHR conducts series of awareness-cum-training programmes on pollinator conservation on 17-18 March 2026

ICAR-IIHR organized programmes on the importance of pollinators on 17 and 18 March 2026 under the National Bee Board Project in collaboration with KVK Herehalli.

The first programme was on 17 March at ICAR-IIHR with farmers from Tamil Nadu, GPS College students, and Shivaganga Beekeeping FPO members from Tumakuru. Two programmes on 18 March were held at Honnenahalli Village, Sira Taluk, Tumakuru District and at TVS School, Tumakuru.

Dr. Sumangala H. P., Principal Scientist, highlighted the critical role of pollinators in agriculture, biodiversity conservation and food security. Mr. S. N. Lokangadan delivered sessions on beekeeping. School students received interactive sessions on ecological importance of pollinators. Six types of flowering annual seeds and booklets on the floral calendar were distributed. Around 174 participants benefited across the three programmes.
