Training program on Soil and Crop Health Management in Horticultural Crops held at Pachamalai Hills on 6 March 2026
An off-campus training program on "Soil and Crop Health Management in Horticultural Crops" was organized for tribal farmers of Pachamalai Hills, Tiruchirappalli district on 06 March 2026 under the AINTHINAI project. A total of 180 tribal farmers participated.
Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist, delivered sessions on soil health management for sustainable horticultural production. He emphasized the importance of maintaining soil fertility, organic matter content, nutrient balance and judicious application of organic and inorganic fertilizers. He also explained the role of Mucuna crop as green manure, cover crop and medicinal plant enhancing soil organic carbon.
Mr. P. Balamurugan, Assistant Horticulture Officer, briefed farmers on Tamil Nadu government schemes including subsidies for drip irrigation systems, polyhouse cultivation and post-harvest storage infrastructure. Arka vegetable seed kits were distributed to all participants.
