World Soil Day 2025 Celebration at ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru
World Soil Day 2025 was celebrated at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru on 5th December with gracious presence of Dr. D Gowrisankar, Director, International and Interagency Cooperation, ISRO, Bengaluru as chief guest of the occasion and Director, ICAR-IIHR presiding over the function. The program was attended by farmers, BSF soldiers, school children and staff of IIHR. The chief guest delivered lecture covering the aspects of role of remote sensing and satellites in agriculture, joint missions of ISRO with other nations, soil and water resource mapping and monitoring and natural resource assessment. Dr. L. R. Varalakshmi, Head I/C, Division of Natural Resources highlighted about importance of world soil day and this year’s theme “Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities”. The presidential remarks was given by Dr. S. Sriram, In-charge Director of IIHR sensitizing about municipal waste management in urban areas for managing soil health. On the occasion, soil health inputs were distributed to farmers and prizes were given to winners of drawing and essay competitions. The program was coordinated by all the staff of the Division of Natural Resources, ICAR-IIHR.
